Kathy Schrock, a very famous educator who is currently working as a District Technology Director in Cape Cod, MA. just tweeted a clickable .pdf of Google Tools organized by Blooms (Digital) Taxonomy: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/121271/google_blooms.pdf
Really interesting stuff! New Resources (to me): Drop Box Two gigs free storage space and file sharing capabilities. BBC Schools Science Clips For ages 5-7. Site also has clips for Math, English and Science. Google Art Project Interactive view of art museums all over the world. if you see the plus sign, click on it and it will give you all the information about that piece of art. You can even create your own personal art work collection. Smug Mug Photo storage, printing and sharing service. Has an annual fee, but can upload full sized photos (and download), sell photos online, password protect photos (of students, for example). Could sell photos through a school account as a fundraiser. ustream Make your own Internet television channel for free. Can also do a screencast, so can do a demo where you show yourself and then screencast what you are doing on your computer. Fantastic tool for distance learning. Can get someone else to talk to a class (author, scientist, politician). Poll Everywhere Can poll up to 30 people per poll. Could ask students a classroom yes/no or open ended question and have them all respond. Then can export to a spreadsheet, graph, create a wordle or whatever you would like. Type With Me "...document text is synchronized as you type, so that everyone viewing [the] page sees the same text. This allows you to collaborate seamlessly on documents in your Web browser." Kevin Honeycutt's Website Click on Cool Tools for a TON of free cool resources. Things I was reminded of Shelfari Another book related social network. I'm invested in Goodreads at this point, but this one looks really interesting too. Big Huge Labs Photo manipulation. Create movie posters, puzzles, mozaics, maps and more for free with your photos! Zamzar File conversion software. Remember the Milk Digital to-do list. Google Body 3-D model of the human body (circulation system, skeletal system etc.). Google Sketchup Create your own 3-D models. At MACUL today.
Here are some really fun and interesting websites to check out that I heard about today: UJAM This is a site where you can add whatever you want to talk about , or sing about to music (and make the beats match up). A very cool resource that could have a lot of educational uses--poetry, counting, word cheers. Super 3 The Early Elementary School version of the Big 6 elements for researching. Tagxedo Like Wordle but cooler Prezi Presentation creation software. Social Media Classroom A plethora of resources that I am going to spend a lot of time exploring. Here are some things I was reminded of: Audacity Free audio recording and editing software available on both Mac and PC platforms. Wordle Generate word clouds from text you provide. I will be attending the MACUL conference tomorrow--Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning. I'm looking forward to bringing back some great stuff for the teachers and the students!
